THUNDER BAY, ON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/20/2006 -- Benton Resources Corp. (TSX-V: BTC) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that a diamond drill has been mobilized to the Bermuda project. A minimum of 2000 metres (m) will be completed during this phase to assess the newly discovered Area 41 Zone and several other zones discovered this summer on the west end of the property.

The diamond drill program will test approximately one kilometre strike length of mineralization uncovered by a mechanical trenching program completed during this past summer season. Drill holes will be targeted under and along strike of the mineralization noted in Trench O and Trench R, located about 700m apart. Channel sampling in Trench O returned 68.0m grading 1.09 gpt Pt+Pd+Au (Platinum+Palladium+Gold) and 0.17% copper and a second zone to the north graded 1.08% copper, 0.36% nickel, 0.09% cobalt and 0.44gpt Pt+Pd+Au over 7.0m, including 1.81% copper, 0.60% nickel 0.12% cobalt and 0.64 gpt Pt+Pd+Au over 3.0m. Several 1.0m samples graded better than 5 gpt Pt+Pd+Au. Channel sampling in Trench R returned 1.9 gpt Pt+Pd+Au and 0.15% Cu over 13.0 m including higher grades of 4.33gpt Pt+Pd+Au over 4.0m and 10.08gpt Pt+Pd+Au over 1.0m.

The results of Phase I will help guide the focus of a second drill program expected to begin early in the new year.
