By leveraging WLAN plug-in CompactFlash (CF) and Secure Digital Input/Output (SDIO) Cards and embedded modules with value added software features from Socket, corporate customers are delivering highly integrated WLAN solutions for market specific products in the healthcare and industrial automation industries. In addition, Socket is expanding its embedded WLAN efforts across various Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) platforms to meet the needs of general-purpose platform developers in order to offer enhanced WLAN solutions to a broader developer community.

Market Specific:
-- Compumedics is developing and marketing proprietary products based on
an in-house RTOS operating system for the sleep medicine and neurology
markets.
-- Athena GTX is developing and marketing a Wireless Vital Signs Monitor
based on the dsPic 30F6014 microcontroller from Microchip for the military,
commercial medical, and first responder markets. This is a custom
motherboard and does not use any OS.
General Purpose:
-- Jinvani SysTech, Inc. is building a complete IEEE 802.11g standards-
based device driver for multiple RTOS including the high performance
Quadros RTCX RTOS environment. Jinvani solution contains Jinvani SD / SDIO
Bus stack and custom host drivers for a wide range of IP, SoC (system on
chip), MIPS and ARM based platforms used by a wide variety of industries
and third party developers.
-- RFNet Technologies is developing device drivers for Linux and other
RTOS platforms to leverage their expertise in three core technologies:
radio frequency circuits, networking protocol stack and embedded
programming on RTOS. RFNet Technologies will offer the final solutions to
end customers and third party developers across numerous markets.
The Socket Communications OS Development Partner Program offers Socket WLAN CF and SDIO Cards, embedded modules and value added software to third party developers who produce drivers and other low-level software for a variety of operating systems. This program allows Socket products, such as the Socket Go Wi-Fi! P300, the Go Wi-Fi! P500 and the 802.11b/g WLAN Module, to be supported on diverse platforms such as Linux, ThreadX and VxWorks.
